Getting close!

I honestly can't believe how soon this surgery is! I decided to make a video, which is something I have never done before. So bare with me as I figure it out. I really hate how I look in pictures, but I really don't like how I look/sound in videos. Are you guys like this or is it just me? The braces make it really hard to talk, and because of how long I had my Palate Expander in, my speech changed a lot (This was one of the major things my ortho screwed up) Now that it is finally out, I am finding it really hard to talk. I also find myself drooling on occasion and it sucks, lol. So! Final appointment with the surgeon tomorrow, and I am pretty nervous. I'm hoping he shows me a picture or something, of what he is expecting my profile to look like post surgery. Anyway, sorry about the video, I have no excuses.

  1. Hi Brytt!
Nice first video - I'm not sure I'll ever be brave enough to do one :)
I've had my top jaw expanded too, the expanders are SO annoying aren't they!! Mine broke about 5 weeks after surgery, and they replaced it with just a support wire (so much better) which I hardly notice. Hope to have that taken out at my next adjustment.
I had wanted a pic of the proposed final result also, but my surgeon & ortho don't do it anymore as they said they found the pics to be unrealistic. I had my ortho draw over my profile X-ray to give me a better idea.
Hope your appt goes well :)
    Cheers - Ellie

    1. Thanks Ellie :) The appointment went so incredibly well today. He did not show me a picture of what he thinks my profile will look like, but I thought about what you and Mary said in your comments, and decided to not even ask for any. Maybe it's just better left as a surprise. Good luck at your next adjustment!

  2. I just watched your video too, I don't think I could do one! I haven't even done pics yet! Anyway, I wanted to comment too about the pics from your surgeon. The one I want to go to ( waiting for insurance pre-authorization) said that they do tracings to show your predicted profile since pictures could cause unrealistic expectations because they can't predict how your soft tissue will adapt to the changes they make to the jaw structure underneath. Plus, in my opinion, you want to adapt to your face as you heal and see the final results emerging and you won't want a picture stuck in your head that you think you should look like. Good luck at your appointment-I will be interested in your update!

    1. I agree with you, Mary (and Ellie) :) I don't want an unrealistic photo to compare myself to after the surgery. As far as the video goes... I don't know how soon I'll be doing another one, lol. I need to braven up!! Thank you for reading my blog though. Hopefully you'll be able to find it helpful. You've at least helped me! :)
